University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Importance of School Gardens for School Students
The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on school gardens and their importance to school students.
The workshop aimed to introduce school gardens and highlight their importance to students and create new generations capable of securing their own food. It also aimed to highlight students' interaction with nature and how to deal with emerging challenges.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Widad Mazban Taher, addressed the importance of school gardens as an educational resource that generates basic knowledge about food security.
The workshop recommended providing curricula on agriculture, its importance, methods, and conservation for all educational levels, launching a "My School, My Farm" project or campaign, and holding competitions between classes and between schools for the most beautiful school garden.
