University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Teaching English as a Means to Promote Human Rights Culture
The College of Education for Women at the University of Basrah organized an awareness workshop entitled Teaching English as a Means to Promote Human Rights Culture.
The workshop aimed to highlight the active role of the English language in enhancing the concepts of human rights and fostering global cultural communication, emphasizing its importance as a bridge for understanding among peoples and as a tool for exchanging human experiences and knowledge.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Mutab Abdulhussein Dawood and Lecturer Maysa Sabri Jasim, with the participation of Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali from the Development Academy, covered several key topics. These included the importance of English in accessing international human rights charters and declarations, the role of language education in cultivating student awareness of justice and equality, and the significance of English in empowering youth to express their opinions and convey a culture of tolerance worldwide.
