University of Basrah Organizes the Medical Oath Ceremony for Al-Zahraa College of Medicine Graduates
The College of Medicine at Al-Zahraa, University of Basrah, organized the medical oath ceremony for its graduates of the 2024–2025 academic year, in the presence of the University President, his Assistant for Administrative Affairs, several university faculty members, and the graduates’ families.
In his speech during the ceremony, University President Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi stated:
“Today, we stand in this academic institution to celebrate a new cohort of our students from Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, who have worked diligently and spent countless nights pursuing knowledge to carry the noble responsibility of the medical profession. Taking the medical oath is not the end of their years of study, but the beginning of a new era of responsibility towards humanity, society, and the nation.”
Dr. Al-Asadi emphasized:
“Medicine is a calling before it is a profession; it is a covenant with God and conscience before it becomes a degree or a title. I hope that the graduates remain faithful to their patients, safeguarding their secrets, showing compassion before treatment, and treating everyone with humanity without discrimination. Every patient is a human being deserving of care, respect, and being treated as a brother, father, or mother.”
He concluded his speech by expressing gratitude and appreciation to the teaching and administrative staff at Al-Zahraa College of Medicine for their efforts in making the ceremony successful, wishing the graduates continued success and hoping they become ambassadors of compassion and knowledge everywhere, proudly representing their country and their university.
