University of Basrah Holds the Graduation Ceremony for the 58th Class — “Class of Creativity and Excellence”
The University of Basrah held its central graduation ceremony for the 58th Class, titled “Class of Creativity and Excellence 2025”, at the Palm Trunk Stadium in the Sports City.
The event was attended by the President of Al-Kunuz University, a representative from Al-Farqadain University, the Head of the Local Government in Basrah, Engineer Asaad Al-Eidani, Member of Parliament Uday Awad Al-Tamimi, and several official representatives from various governmental and security institutions, in addition to a large gathering of faculty members, students, staff, and their families.
In his opening speech, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, stated:
“It brings me great joy and honor to stand before you today in this great national edifice that embraces our grand academic celebration, as we honor the prestigious University of Basrah — a longstanding beacon of knowledge and generosity, a source of pride and dignity for all Iraqis, and a radiant jewel in our beloved South.”
He added:
“Today, we meet at a historic moment filled with joy and achievement as we celebrate the fruits of effort and determination by graduating a new cohort of our dear students, who have proven that the path of knowledge—though long and challenging—remains the path to glory, success, and eternal remembrance in the nation’s memory.
Today, we celebrate the graduation of a distinguished group comprising 12,373 undergraduate students and 710 postgraduate degree holders, in addition to honoring more than 120 top-ranking students across the university’s colleges.”
The ceremony featured several segments, including a parade of the university’s graduates, the presentation of awards to the top three students from each college, the recitation of the university oath, a musical performance by the university’s choir led by Maestro Omar Kareem, and the screening of a documentary produced by the Department of Media and Government Communication highlighting the most significant academic achievements and events between 2024 and 2025, along with various entertaining performances.
