University of Basrah Participates in the International Scientific Conference on Environmental Research, Climate Change, and Water
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah participated in the First International Scientific Conference of the Al-Alamein Center for Environmental Research, Climate Change, and Water, held in Baghdad on October 17–18, 2025, under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Iraq and with broad official and international attendance.
The college’s delegation was headed by Dean Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, accompanied by a group of faculty members specialized in the fields of environment and natural resources.
As part of the participation, the College of Agriculture team presented the work plan for Volume V of the Environmental Encyclopedia, which focuses on the environmental history of the Iraqi marshes, their biodiversity, and the impacts of water scarcity and climate change, in addition to discussing the main environmental challenges facing efforts to restore and revive the marshlands.
