University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Plant Tissue Culture for Propagation of Medicinal Plants
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar titled "Plant Tissue Culture: A Biotechnology Bridge for Propagating Medicinal Plants and Producing Secondary Metabolites."
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of tissue culture in propagating medicinal plants and extracting their active compounds, while explaining the basic stages of the technique and the differences between it and traditional propagation.
The seminar also addressed the challenges facing the application of this technique in agricultural laboratories, presenting successful experiments on plants such as rosemary, rose, ginger, and banana.
The seminar emphasized that tissue culture represents a modern biotechnology for producing identical, disease-free plants.
