University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Biofertilizers and Their Role in Plant Production
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar titled "Biofertilizers and Their Role in Plant Production and Disease Control."
The seminar, presented by Dr. Abdul Nabi Abdul-Amir Matroud, aimed to highlight the role of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi in promoting plant growth and improving crop productivity.
The seminar addressed the role of bacteria in secreting organic acids that contribute to the release of phosphate ions, in addition to the importance of biocontrol fungi such as mycorrhizae in increasing nutrient availability by activating phosphorus-dissolving enzymes and lowering soil pH.
