University of Basrah Organizes a Lecture on Heavy Metals and Their Impact on Plants and Living Organisms
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah held a scientific lecture titled “Heavy Metals and Their Impact on Plants and Living Organisms” as part of its ongoing scientific activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and understanding pollution risks.
The lecture aimed to raise environmental awareness among staff, students, and visitors, while encouraging research and studies that contribute to environmental protection and reducing the effects of pollutants on biological systems.
Presented by Dr. Shatha Mohammed Hamza, the lecture discussed the sources of heavy metals in the environment, their pathways into food chains, and the effects of their accumulation in plants and living organisms, as well as the environmental and health consequences resulting from contamination with these elements.
