University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Active Compounds in Vegetable Crops and Their Medicinal Benefits
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop entitled “Active Compounds in Vegetable Crops: Factors Affecting Their Presence, Methods of Estimation, and Medicinal Benefits.”
The workshop aimed to explore the chemical classification of active compounds, their medicinal effects, and the environmental factors influencing their concentrations within plants.
Delivered by Lecturer Noor Abdul-Zahra Jaber, the workshop covered modern techniques used in the estimation of active compounds, such as spectrophotometry and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). It also discussed the medicinal benefits of vegetable crops in preventing chronic diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
