University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Impact of Dietary Habits on Mental Health and Their Role in Reducing Addiction and Suicide
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop on healthy nutrition and its relationship to mental health.
The workshop aimed to understand the nature of the relationship between the types of food a person consumes, the timing of meals, and their impact on genetic predisposition and unhealthy habits and behaviors.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Nawfal Abdul-Amir Hussein, addressed the importance of dietary habits in the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses. He explained that unhealthy eating patterns and disrupting the body's natural circadian rhythm are among the most prominent causes of these illnesses. Improving the quality and quantity of food and avoiding large meals in the evening are key to preventing and treating mental disorders that may lead to addiction or suicide.
