University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Human Rights Violations: Past and Present
The College of Nursing at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on human rights violations, both past and present.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Fatima Jassim Mohammed, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit, and Mr. Riyadh Hussein Taqi, Director of the Legal Department at the college, addressed human rights violations throughout history, their evolution, and how they have transformed from physical methods such as torture to complex violations encompassing economic, social, and cultural rights, such as forced evictions and environmental pollution, as well as emerging challenges like discrimination and poverty.
The seminar concluded that understanding the nature of human rights violations over time, and how to prevent them and preserve human dignity, has become a global priority for conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
