University of Basrah Organizes Discussion on the Reliability of Accruals and Financial Reporting Standards
The College of Administration and Economics, in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized a discussion titled “The Impact of Accrual Reliability on Cash Retention: The Case of International Financial Reporting Standards in the United Arab Emirates.”
The session, presented by Dr. Munther Jabbar Dagher, aimed to examine how the reliability of accruals affects cash and cash-equivalent retention. It highlighted that companies tend to retain cash when reliability is low and dispose of surplus when reliability is high.
The discussion also addressed the role of implementing International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in enhancing financial transparency and serving investors effectively.
