University of Basrah Inaugurates the Specialized University Hospital in Basrah
The University of Basrah inaugurated today the Basrah Specialized University Hospital, one of the most significant healthcare and educational achievements in the governorate. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Basrah, several members of parliament, officials, academics, and media representatives.
The University President, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, stated that the project embodies “a national vision adopted by the University to serve humanity and society by integrating scientific knowledge with practical application.”
The hospital, located in the Al-Baradh’iya area, spans an area of 20,000 square meters and includes 446 beds and a fully integrated medical tower — the tallest of its kind in the governorate — in addition to specialized centers and modern laboratories.
The project was implemented under the supervision of the Consulting Office at the College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Colleges of Medicine, Administration and Economics, and Governmental Contracts, and in active partnership with the Basrah Governorate Office.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the University President extended his gratitude and appreciation to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Governor of Basrah, and all those who contributed to the completion of this landmark project, which reflects the University’s mission to serve society and promote healthcare development in Iraq.
