Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Theory of Literary Endings in Postmodern Literature
A master’s thesis at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, titled “The Sense of Infinity: A Study in the Theory of Literary Endings with Reference to Postmodern Literature,” was recently presented.
The thesis, submitted by student Shams Sabah, aims to examine the concept of “the sense of ending,” the theoretical model developed by Frank Kermode, which posits the notion of complete closure as a defining characteristic of literature.
The study comprises five chapters in which the student explored the framework of the sense of ending, the sense of infinity, and the manifestations of postmodernism in the perception of infinity.
