University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Antioxidants in Ornamental Fish
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop titled “Antioxidants in Ornamental Fish.”
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of ornamental fish as a natural source of unique compounds and pigments, and to discuss the role of fatty acids (Omega-3) and selenium in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
Delivered by Dr. Nariman Azeem Al-Ghazi and Dr. Hala Yahya Isa, the workshop addressed the nutritional value of fish, optimal cooking methods to preserve their flavor, texture, and beneficial nutrients, and the role of functional foods such as sushi in promoting health.
The workshop is part of the college’s activities to raise nutritional awareness and support scientific research.
