University of Basrah Holds a Seminar on Symbiotic Bacteria and Their Role in Controlling Stored-Product Insects
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled “Symbiotic Bacteria: The Hidden Weapon in the Battle Against Stored-Product Insects.”
The seminar, delivered by Lecturer Janan Malik Khalaf, aimed to clarify the relationship between symbiotic bacteria and stored-product insects, and to explain how these bacteria influence insect behavior and survival.
The discussion covered the vital functions of these bacteria, their mechanisms of transmission, and the most common types, emphasizing their importance in developing innovative and sustainable pest control strategies.
The study recommended adopting eco-friendly and smart approaches in pest management to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides.
