University of Basrah Organizes a Training Course on the Benefits of Granulometric Analysis of Sediments and Soils
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a training course entitled “Methods of Granulometric Analysis of Sediments and Soils and Their Benefits.”
The course aimed to enhance understanding of how to assess soil and water quality, identify pollutants, and conduct effective environmental monitoring.
The course, delivered by Dr. Zainab Abdul-Ridha Hameed, included an explanation of the importance and properties of soil, as well as the modern techniques used in its analysis—such as the Folk Method for estimating sediment sizes. It also covered the determination of the main components’ proportions, including clay and silt.
