University of Basrah Delegation Explores Establishment of a Chinese Language Institute during Visit to Chinese Universities
A delegation from the University of Basrah visited Beijing Foreign Studies University and the China-Arab Reform and Development Research Center in China to enhance cooperation in higher education between the two countries.
The visiting delegation included Dr. Muhannad Hamed Abboud, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at the University of Basrah, Dr. Majid Mohammed Jassim, Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Dr. Nofal Ali Al-Mubarak, Dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Mufid Turki Rasheed, Dean of the College of Engineering.
Dr. Muhannad Hamed Abboud stated that the delegation reached an agreement with the Chinese side to cooperate in teaching Arabic and Chinese languages, explore student exchange opportunities, and implement joint training programs.
He added that the delegation presented a study on the feasibility of establishing a Confucius Institute for teaching the Chinese language at the University of Basrah, in addition to promoting cooperation in scientific research, innovation, and mutual education programs.
