Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Comparison Between Parametric and Non-Parametric Methods
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah examined a master’s thesis titled “Comparison Between Parametric and Non-Parametric Methods and Genetic Algorithm for Estimating the Utility Function of the Alpha Power Frechet Distribution with Application.”
The thesis, presented by student Reda Adel Nasser, aimed to address heavy-tailed utility data by developing more accurate estimation methods.
The study involved deriving the mathematical properties of the distribution and applying them to real data from industrial pumps. The thesis recommended integrating traditional statistical methods with artificial intelligence techniques to enhance model accuracy and improve predictive maintenance systems.
