PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores the Morphotectonics of the Low Fold Belt in Eastern Iraq
A PhD dissertation at the College of Science, University of Basrah, examined the morphotectonics of the Low Fold Belt in the Al-Tayyib–Badra region in eastern Iraq using remote sensing techniques.
The dissertation, presented by the student Zainab Adel Issa, aimed to assess the morphotectonic characteristics of the Al-Tayyib and Badra areas through the application of morphotectonic indices to the rivers within the study region.
The dissertation consisted of five chapters in which the researcher discussed the application of Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (DInSAR). This was carried out by selecting specific earthquakes for each area and monitoring ground deformation resulting from these seismic events by measuring both vertical and horizontal displacement in the two study regions after the earthquakes occurred.
