University of Basrah Organizes Seminar for Students on the Dangers of Drugs
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar on combating drugs as a university responsibility contributing to building a drug-free generation.
The seminar featured a lecture delivered by faculty members Suzan Abdul Jabbar Abdul Aziz and Asmaa Sami Madi, who discussed the definition of drugs, their types, the difference between use and addiction, as well as the health risks, ways to identify users, and methods to avoid contact with them to protect both individuals and society.
The lecturers emphasized that young people possess creative energies that require proper investment, highlighting the importance of developing their skills, caring for them, and directing them toward beneficial activities that enhance their awareness and self-protection.
The session concluded with key recommendations, including self-care, avoiding harm, acquiring diverse personal skills, and the importance of early detection of drug users and dealers to safeguard individual and community security.
