University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Preventing Cyber Extortion
The College of Education – Al-Qurna at the University of Basrah organized an educational seminar on cyber extortion and guidance-based strategies to confront it.
The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of cyber extortion, its various forms (financial, emotional, psychological), and the psychological and social effects this crime can have on victims.
The session included a lecture delivered by a group of faculty members, highlighting key preventive measures such as enhancing digital awareness, avoiding sharing personal information, steering clear of suspicious links, and emphasizing the importance of promptly reporting incidents to relevant authorities, such as community police.
This seminar reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to raise digital awareness among students and promote self-protection against cyber risks.
