University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Natural Pronunciation in Foreign Languages
The College of Education – Al-Qurna at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar on natural pronunciation in foreign languages.
The seminar aimed to clarify the concept of natural pronunciation, develop learners’ skills in rhythm and intonation, and enhance their ability to handle connected speech, while employing modern methods to improve pronunciation in real communicative situations.
The seminar included a lecture delivered by Lecturer Amal Salman Mishri, who reviewed the characteristics of connected speech, emphasizing that fluency is achieved through understanding the “music of the language,” rather than focusing solely on individual sounds.
The seminar recommended using pronunciation improvement methods such as listening to authentic models, shadowing, self-recording, phonological training, and practicing pronunciation in real-life communicative contexts, with an emphasis on clarity and confidence.
