University of Basrah Holds Educational Lecture on “Psychological and Legal Effects of Drugs”
The College of Education – Qurna at the University of Basrah organized an educational lecture titled “The Psychological and Legal Effects of Drugs.”
The lecture aimed to raise students’ awareness about the dangers of drug use and its psychological impacts, in addition to explaining the legal aspects and the penalties imposed by Iraqi law on users and traffickers, thereby contributing to limiting the spread of this phenomenon and enhancing community awareness.
The lecture, presented by instructors Marwa Faleh Farhood and Sarah Sabah Abd Ali, discussed the negative psychological effects of drugs, including disorders such as anxiety, depression, and impaired cognition. It also covered the legal framework surrounding drug use and trafficking, outlining the penalties stipulated by law, while emphasizing the importance of continuous awareness to combat this issue.
