University of Basrah Organizes a Lecture on the Relationship Between Plastic Particles and the Environment
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah organized an awareness lecture titled “The Relationship of Microplastics with the Environment and the Risks of Plastic Kitchenware.”
The lecture aimed to highlight the dangers of microplastic particles, their direct impact on the environment and human health, and to raise awareness regarding the daily use of plastic utensils at home and the potential transfer of harmful substances during cooking or storage.
The lecture, delivered by the museum director Dr. Shatha Muhammad Hamza, provided a simplified scientific explanation of the ways microplastics spread within the food chain and outlined methods to reduce exposure. Practical recommendations were also offered to promote healthy and environmentally conscious practices in the kitchen.
