University of Basrah Organizes an Educational Seminar on Suicide and Prevention Strategies
The Scientific Affairs Department at the University of Basrah organized an educational seminar titled “Suicide… Motivations and Prevention Methods.”
The seminar aimed to present effective prevention strategies, strengthen family communication, provide early psychological support, raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its direct impact, in addition to highlighting the essential role of educational institutions in identifying at-risk individuals and guiding them appropriately.
The event included a lecture delivered by Dr. Abbas Jum’a, Head of the University’s Drug Control Unit, in which he discussed suicide as a complex social phenomenon associated with psychological, social, and economic factors. He also shed light on the warning signs that may appear among individuals at risk.
