University of Basrah Holds Lecture on Academic Supervision of Theses and Research in the Educational Field
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah held a lecture on academic supervision of theses and research as part of the fifth Teaching Methods course, Unit Eight, within the educational specialization.
The lecture aimed to familiarize trainees with the concept of academic supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students’ theses and research projects.
Delivered by Dr. Zainab Faleh Salem, the lecture defined academic supervision as the process of guiding and supporting researchers by a specialized academic supervisor throughout the preparation of their theses or research projects.
The lecture recommended that academic supervisors possess distinguished academic and practical experience, deep expertise in the research field they supervise, and uphold principles of credibility and ethics. Supervisors should respect researchers’ privacy and avoid exploiting research outcomes for personal gain.
