University of Basrah Lecturer Participates in the 4th International Scientific Conference of Dar Al-Rasul Al-Azam on the Blessed Prophetic Biography
Dr. Abbas Qasim Atiya, a lecturer at the College of Education for Women at the University of Basrah, participated in the 4th International Scientific Conference organized by Dar Al-Rasul Al-Azam, held at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine under the theme “The Blessed Prophetic Biography: Between Qur’anic Constants and Changes in Academic Curricula.”
His contribution included a research paper analyzing the methodology of interpreting Qur’anic texts and the prophetic biography within the Italian Orientalist school, highlighting the epistemological differences within Italian Orientalism.
The study aimed to demonstrate that Italian Orientalism does not represent a single model or unified approach but rather constitutes a field of multiple methodologies. It emphasized the importance of distinguishing between rigorous scientific criticism and ideological interpretation when examining Orientalist discourse on Islam.
