University of Basrah Organizes Discussion Session on Biometric Security and Its Role in Protecting Digital Identity
The College of Education for Women at the University of Basrah organized a discussion session entitled “Biometric Security: Present and Future in Protecting Digital Identity.”
The session, presented by lecturer Ghadir Raad Abdulaziz, aimed to shed light on the concept of biometric security and its role in enhancing the protection of digital identity amid the rapid digital transformation occurring globally.
The session explained biometric security as a field concerned with safeguarding biometric data derived from individuals’ unique traits, such as fingerprints, facial features, iris patterns, voice, and signatures. It also addressed how these characteristics are utilized to accurately and securely verify identity, preventing any attempts at data breaches or manipulation.
The discussion recommended the necessity of promoting digital security culture and raising awareness about the importance of protecting biometric data to ensure the establishment of a secure and sustainable digital ecosystem.
