University of Basrah Organizes Discussion Session on Modern Methods for Controlling Stored-Product Insects
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a discussion session entitled “Modern Methods for Controlling Stored-Product Insects.”
Presented by Dr. Iman Mousa Imran, the session aimed to introduce the latest techniques used to limit the spread of these pests and protect food stocks.
The discussion reviewed a range of advanced methods, including the use of ozone gas, smart fogging technology, ionizing radiation sterilization, and genetic approaches based on molecular markers to edit or modify the genes responsible for pest traits.
The session also highlighted the role of biological control as a safe and effective option for reducing the damage caused by stored-product insects.
