University of Basrah Hosts Educational Seminar on Drugs and Their Impact on Individuals and Society
The College of Medicine at the University of Basrah organized an educational seminar entitled “Drugs and Their Impact on Individuals and Society.”
The seminar, presented by Dr. Khadija Sami Madi, aimed to raise students’ awareness of the dangers of drug use, methods of prevention, the types of commonly abused substances, and their effects on the nervous system as well as physical and mental health.
The session addressed the serious social consequences of drug abuse, including family breakdown, increased crime rates, reduced productivity, and the negative impact on youth and their role in societal development.
The seminar emphasized the importance of raising awareness among students, promoting self-monitoring, and fostering cooperation between educational, health, and security institutions to curb this phenomenon.
