University of Basrah Organizes an Awareness Seminar on the Risks of Drug Abuse and the Role of Nursing Staff
The College of Nursing at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar on the risks of drug abuse and the role of nursing professionals.
The seminar—presented by Dr. Sundus Baqir Dawood and Dr. Hussein Fakher Kamil, and attended by a ministerial delegation—addressed various types and classifications of drugs, the signs associated with substance use, and the resulting health, psychological, social, and economic harms. It also highlighted the role of families and communities in combating drug-related issues and discussed preventive measures.
The seminar aimed to clarify the dangers of drug use on individuals and society, particularly among young people, emphasizing the importance of education and awareness, as well as the need to enforce stricter regulations governing the circulation and use of such substances.
The seminar recommended promoting awareness and education by organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops to highlight the harmful effects of drugs and stimulants on society and their serious impact on public well-being.
