University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar on the Impact of Drugs on the Human Brain and Society
The College of Administration and Economics – Al-Qurna, University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Impact of Drugs on the Human Brain and Society.”
The seminar, presented by a group of lecturers, explored the scientific, security, and social aspects associated with the phenomenon of drug abuse.
The seminar aimed to highlight the escalating risks of drug proliferation in society and to examine its profound effects on the human brain, including cognitive decline, loss of concentration and decision-making abilities, and psychological and behavioral imbalance. It also addressed the social dimensions of addiction, such as family disintegration, increased crime rates, decreased productivity, and negative impacts on community security and stability.
The seminar recommended enhanced cooperation among educational, security, and health institutions to promote preventive awareness and to develop treatment and rehabilitation programs. It also emphasized the pivotal role of families and schools in fostering intellectual and behavioral resilience among youth.
