University of Basrah Holds Seminar on Water Salinity and Its Environmental Impacts
The College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar titled “Water Salinity and Its Impacts on the Environment.”
The seminar aimed to raise environmental awareness about the dangers of water salinity, encourage the study of environmental problems, develop sustainable solutions, and enhance the university’s role in addressing local challenges.
The session, presented by lecturers Sarah Abbas and Azraa Jasib, covered the causes of increased salinity in Basrah and its health, environmental, and agricultural effects, as well as its direct impact on water resources.
The seminar concluded with recommendations to develop strategies to address salinity, monitor pollution sources, raise community awareness, and encourage scientific research that contributes to sustainable solutions.
