University of Basrah Organizes a Field Visit to Date Palm Farms
A research team from the Date Palm Research Center at the University of Basrah conducted a field visit to one of the tissue-cultured date palm farms in the Al-Hartha area of Shatt Al-Arab District.
During the visit, the team examined the planted trees, which included various tissue-cultured date palm cultivars. The researchers also provided scientific guidance regarding the trees’ health status, irrigation systems, and fertilization methods to ensure optimal growth and improved productivity.
This visit comes as part of the center’s efforts to closely assess the reality of date palm cultivation in the private sector and to guide farmers toward adopting modern techniques that align with global scientific and technological advancements. It also aims to promote opportunities for collaboration and facilitate applied research in date palm farms across Basrah Province, contributing to the development of the agricultural production sector.
