University of Basrah Organizes a Discussion Session on the New Middle East Plan
The Basrah and Gulf Studies Center organized a discussion session titled “The New Middle East Plan: Dimensions and Pathways.”
The session, presented by Dr. Haider Abdul Hassan Majid, aimed to shed light on the New Middle East project, which has reshaped the region’s political geography within a modern geopolitical framework. The project was described as highly significant in its implications, aligning closely with Israeli aspirations to restructure the region in ways that serve its interests and expansionist plans.
The discussion highlighted that the core of this plan involves creating an alternative Middle East, distinct from the Arab and Islamic worlds, reintegrating Israel into the region’s political, economic, and security frameworks. It also noted that the United States has adopted this concept.
The session addressed the economic and political importance of the Middle East, emphasizing its strategic geographical location, key global maritime routes, and abundant energy resources, which remain a primary driver of international interest in the region.
