Scientific Study at the University of Basrah Investigates Microbial Contamination in Tap and Household Water Tanks
A scientific study conducted by a research team at the College of Science, University of Basrah, investigated microbial contamination in tap water and household water tanks across various areas of Basrah Province.
The study, published in EnvironmentAsia, a journal indexed in Scopus, revealed that all water samples were contaminated with coliform and fecal bacteria as well as fungi. When compared with the standards for potable water according to the World Health Organization, the results confirmed that the water was unfit for various uses.
