University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Mechanisms of Insect-Borne Diseases Affecting Humans and Animals
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop addressing the mechanisms by which insects transmit diseases to humans and animals, with a focus on the role of genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors in the spread of epidemics.
The workshop aimed to clarify how the genetic composition of insects interacts with their behavioral patterns and surrounding conditions, enhancing their ability to transmit pathogens.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Jaafar Owaid and Dr. Bassem Nouf Hasan Abdul-Ridha, included analytical lectures discussing the main factors associated with increased infection rates.
The workshop recommended integrating genetic and environmental data into strategies for controlling disease vectors, thereby strengthening preventive efforts and reducing the risks of disease transmission.
