University of Basrah Organizes a Course on Marine Fish Farming
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a course on marine fish farming in Basrah Governorate.
The course aimed to familiarize participants with the importance of marine fish farming in the governorate to achieve food security, support the local economy, and protect natural marine stocks by providing a sustainable alternative to overfishing.
The course, presented by Dr. Faleh Mousa Jafar, highlighted the significance of marine fish farming in Basrah and the urgent need to establish a marine station for breeding and propagating marine fish in the governorate. It also covered the different fish species, the components of hatcheries, and the requirements for breeding these fish using stimulating hormones.
