University of Basrah Organizes Awareness Lecture on Drugs
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah organized an awareness lecture titled “Drugs: From Addiction to Treatment” in conjunction with the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week.
The lecture aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse on individuals and society, highlighting the health, psychological, and social consequences of drug use. It also focused on treatment and rehabilitation methods, emphasizing the potential for reintegration into society.
The lecture, presented by the museum director Dr. Shatha Mohammed Hamza, covered several topics including the stages of addiction, contributing factors, prevalent types of drugs, and preventive measures targeting youth, as well as the role of educational institutions in promoting awareness to curb this phenomenon.
This event is part of a series of educational activities organized by the museum to foster positive behavior and protect the community from risks that threaten its stability and the safety of its members.
