Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Investigates Fungal Presence in Sinuses and Tonsils in Basra Governorate
A master’s thesis at the College of Science, University of Basrah, explored the presence of fungi in the sinuses and tonsils in Basra Governorate.
The thesis, submitted by student Raghda Hazem Daham, aimed to identify the fungi responsible for sinusitis and tonsillitis in patients clinically diagnosed with both conditions.
The study comprised four chapters, in which the student examined the hidden role of pathogenic fungi. The thesis highlighted that yeasts showed higher protease enzyme production than filamentous fungi, whereas filamentous fungi exhibited higher levels of phospholipase and hemolysin production.
