President of the University of Basrah Attends the Annual Evaluation Conference of the College of Agriculture and Affirms Support for Agricultural Innovation and Sustainable Development
With the attendance of the President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem Al-Asadi, the College of Agriculture held its annual evaluation conference for the 2024–2025 academic year under the slogan: “Towards a Sustainable Agricultural Future through Innovation and Research Excellence.” The event also included the participation of the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Haider Khazaal, the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, and a group of faculty members.
The conference featured a comprehensive review of the college’s achievements during the past academic year, including evaluations of scientific, administrative, financial, and legal performance, as well as community service activities, scientific contributions, and student championships. Future plans to enhance institutional performance in line with quality standards and academic accreditation were also discussed.
In his speech, the University President offered several essential remarks that emphasized strengthening the college’s strengths and developing its work processes. He also highlighted key challenges and the need to address them to ensure improved educational quality and scientific research.
Al-Asadi reaffirmed the University Presidency’s commitment to supporting the College of Agriculture in overcoming obstacles and providing innovative and sustainable solutions. He emphasized the vital role the college plays in achieving national food security, protecting the environment, and supporting sustainable development pathways in Iraq.
He further stressed the importance of graduating specialized cadres capable of meeting labor market needs and advancing research leadership in agricultural technologies and strategic crops. He also called for continued development of infrastructure and scientific laboratories, increased funding opportunities, and expanding student admissions to elevate the college’s academic and research standing.
The conference concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at enhancing academic and research performance and promoting scientific innovation to serve the agricultural sector and contribute to achieving sustainable development in Iraq.
