University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Open Space Design and Future Urban Planning
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a specialized scientific seminar entitled “Open Space Design: Importance, Challenges, and Future Perspectives,” which addressed the vital role of open spaces in contemporary urban planning.
The seminar aimed to highlight the contribution of open spaces to improving quality of life and enhancing psychological and physical well-being, in addition to their role in supporting environmental sustainability and increasing the efficiency of urban infrastructure.
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Zain Al-Abidin Abdul Hussein Handhal, emphasized that open spaces represent multifunctional systems that integrate aesthetic, environmental, and social dimensions. This makes their design and management an increasing challenge in light of rapid urban expansion and climate change.
