University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Essential Oils and Their Impact on Meat Quality
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled “Essential Oils as Sustainable Additives and Their Effect on Production Performance and Meat Quality,” with the participation of several faculty members and researchers.
The seminar aimed to highlight the role of safe natural additives in improving animal production efficiency while reducing reliance on chemical additives and antibiotics.
The lectures, delivered by Dr. Israa Yaqub Yousif, Dr. Huda Falih Saad, and Dr. Alaa Mohammed Sadkhan, covered the mechanisms through which essential oils enhance digestion, intestinal health, immunity, and reduce oxidative stress. They also addressed the role of essential oils in improving meat quality traits and extending shelf life, thereby contributing to sustainable animal production.
