University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Building a Knowledgeable Generation and the Role of Self-Training in Transforming University Learning Culture
The College of Administration and Economics – Qurna, at the University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Building a Knowledgeable, Not Just Successful, Generation: The Role of Self-Training in Transforming University Learning Culture.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of shifting from the concept of “academic success,” which is limited to grades, to the concept of “deep learning,” which fosters the development of a university personality capable of continuous learning, self-improvement, and positive engagement with professional life demands.
Presented by lecturers Bilal Nouri and Haider Nizar, the seminar introduced the concept of self-training as a fundamental tool in cultivating an aware generation equipped with critical thinking, research, problem-solving skills, and lifelong learning capabilities.
The seminar also discussed strategies for promoting a culture of self-training among students and methods for integrating it into the university environment through both curricular and extracurricular activities. The presenters emphasized that investing in students’ self-development skills represents a turning point in the quality of higher education outcomes and enhances the ability to meet the demands of the contemporary labor market.
