University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Cybersecurity and Online Extortion
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the National Security Agency and the Center for Development and Continuing Education, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Cybersecurity and the Challenges Faced by Society Due to Online Extortion”.
The seminar aimed to raise cybersecurity awareness among students and the university community regarding the risks of online extortion, strengthen the concept of cybersecurity, equip students with preventive measures, build trust in communication with relevant authorities, and mitigate the psychological and social impacts of such crimes.
During the seminar, officers from the National Security Agency provided explanations on the concept of cybersecurity, the methods used by extortionists, ways to protect privacy, and safe reporting mechanisms.
The seminar recommended continuing awareness activities, enhancing institutional cooperation, incorporating digital security concepts into guidance programs, and providing psychological and social support to victims of online extortion.
