University of Basrah Holds the Annual Evaluation Conference on the Marine Environment
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah held its annual evaluation conference under the theme “Scientific Evaluation: The Foundation for Protecting the Marine Environment and Developing Its Resources,” in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal Al-Kaabi.
The conference aimed to evaluate performance and achieve continuous development through self-assessment, identifying obstacles and proposing solutions, as well as exchanging expertise and enhancing scientific research. It also sought to build partnerships and improve academic and administrative performance by identifying strengths and areas for improvement, in a manner that serves the goals of the institution and society, achieves comprehensive quality, and elevates both scientific and practical standards.
The conference included a comprehensive presentation of the Center’s activities during the previous academic year, during which scientific, administrative, financial, and legal achievements were evaluated, along with community service activities and scientific participations. In addition, future plans to develop institutional performance in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation were discussed.
In his address, the Assistant President of the University presented a set of key observations that focused on strengthening areas of excellence in the Center’s performance and developing its operational structures, as well as identifying challenges and working to address them in a way that ensures the improvement of the quality of education and scientific research.
Dr. Al-Kaabi affirmed the University Presidency’s commitment to supporting the Marine Science Center in overcoming obstacles and providing innovative and sustainable solutions, noting the Center’s pivotal role in protecting the marine environment and developing its resources through the scientific achievements of its staff. He also commended the Center for attaining second place among the University’s formations according to the researcher-to-publication ratio index for the previous year.
