University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Heavy Metal Poisoning
The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled “Heavy Metal Poisoning: Mechanisms of Action and Diseases.”
The workshop aimed to introduce the toxicity and hazards of heavy metals in general, with a focus on certain elements that have a direct association with diseases of varying severity, which may sometimes be fatal.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by faculty member Dr. Rajaa Nouri Makki, in which she explained the potential health risks of heavy metals as a result of their bioaccumulation in the body, noting that exposure to these toxic elements can lead to serious damage to various bodily systems.
