University of Basrah Celebrates World Arabic Language Day
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah celebrated World Arabic Language Day by organizing a scientific seminar entitled “The Language of Ḍād and the Language of Numbers: The Dialectic of Precision and Expression in Accounting Sciences.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the reciprocal relationship between the Arabic language and the language of accounting sciences, and to emphasize the importance of integrating linguistic precision with numerical accuracy in the analysis of financial data.
The seminar featured lectures delivered by Dr. Ali Taha, Dr. Suhail Abdullah, Dr. Abbas Abdulaziz, and faculty member Muslim Badr, who addressed the role of the Arabic language in clarifying accounting concepts. The Dean of the College also underscored the importance of sound scientific wording in financial reports and policies.
The seminar concluded with recommendations to enhance the use of precise Arabic and to further develop accounting terminology.
