University of Basrah Faculty Member Participates in an International Conference
Dr. Zuhair Ali Abdul Nabi, a faculty member at the Marine Science Center, University of Basrah, participated in the Fourth International Conference on Life Sciences and Their Applications, held at the College of Education in Qurna.
His participation included the presentation of a research paper entitled:
“Vertical Distribution, Source Analysis, and Health Risk Assessment of Residual Selenium in Sediment Cores from the Shatt al-Basrah Channel.”
The study aimed to measure selenium concentrations across different layers of sediment cores, analyze the distribution and sources of this element, and assess the potential environmental risks to the aquatic ecosystem. In addition, the research evaluated the associated health risks within the Shatt al-Basrah River system and their possible adverse implications for human health.
